Lower back pain? Sore muscles? Tight muscles? If you have ever wanted more flexibility, then an assisted stretching
session is for you. Stretching increases blood-flow to muscles and
increases range of motion in the joints.
The session is very
relaxing, as your trainer does all of the work-- stretching your
muscles to their limit and increasing your flexibility. Just lie back
and relax!
Assisted
stretching allows for what you cannot obtain through self stretching:
maximal resistance. As you progress in your resistance flexibility and
strength training, you will eventually need to resist maximally in
order to achieve maximal results.
It takes twice
as much force to resistance stretch a muscle as it does to strengthen
it. So if you strengthen your hamstring with 50 pounds, it takes 100 pounds of resistance to stretch your hamstring. This is where help from another
person becomes an essential part of your training program.
The best part about my assisted stretching sessions is the stretching of the rhomboids, located on your back on each side of your spine. Many clients have noticed instant relief from back pain using this method. I encourage you to try assisted stretching if you have lower back pain or sore/tight muscles!
